Introduction

Between the areas of compression and tension there lies a neutral zone.

The neutral zone does not need hardware since this depends on the level of the bite which the individual is going to apply.   • Direct bone healing: Direct bone healing needs rigid fixation and immobility of fracture segments with a small space between them. With this, the osteoclasts move to the damaged or fractured region and wide adjacent system.
  • Indirect bone healing: Indirect bone healing is needed in case of a larger interfragmentary. This process is complex and complicated as it involves the formation of a bone calculus which is a fibrocartilaginous intermediary.
