Root Canal Treatment

What is a root canal?

Painless Root Canal Treatment in Ludhiana, Punjab, Root canal procedure saves and repairs a tooth that is infected or damaged. The tooth nerve and pulp can become irritated, infected, and inflamed because of decay, the large fillings, crack, repeated dental procedures, or chipped teeth.

During the procedure, the pulp and nerve of the teeth are removed. The inside of the teeth is cleaned and sealed. Tissue absence can lead to infection and leads to an abscess.

The nerve of the tooth is not important for a tooth’s health and its functioning. Its function is to provide sensation for cold and hot. The nerve absence won’t affect the tooth working. The procedure is not painful.

What is the need for a root canal procedure?

Teeth contain a soft core known as dental pulp that extends from the teeth visible part (crown) to the jawbone tooth root. The dental pulp contains blood vessels, connective tissues, and nerves. If the patient’s tooth has a deep cavity or crack, then it allows the bacteria to enter the pulp. It should not be left untreated for a long time, otherwise, it leads to infection, tooth abscess, pulp death, teeth loss, or bone loss.

What is the root canal procedure?

The following steps are performed by our dentist or endodontist as he specializes in the causes, diagnoses, treatment, and prevention for dental pulp problems.

  • First of all, an X-ray is done to check the shape of the root canal and look for infection. Local anesthesia is administered by the dentist to numb the area near the teeth. Anesthesia helps the patients to feel relaxed during the treatment.
  • During the treatment, the mouth needs to be dry and free of saliva that is possible by placing the rubber dam around the teeth.
  • After that, the tooth is drilled to get access. The decayed nerve, bacteria, and pulp are taken out from the tooth. The entire area is cleaned, and all the sides of the teeth are scrubbed for the root canal. To wash the debris, sodium hypochlorite or water is used.
  • Following that, the teeth are sealed, or the dentist might wait for 14 days to seal the tooth. If there is an infection, then medication is put to clear it up. If the root canal is not done on the same day, then the temporary filling is used so that the area does not come in contact with food and saliva.
  • During your next dental visit, the Gutta-percha (rubber compound) and sealer paste are placed into the root canal. The hole created at the start of the treatment, there filling is put.
  • Finally, the restoration of the tooth is done. To protect the tooth, you might need a crown, post, or another restoration method. IT makes it easier to function properly, and it won’t break.
